Obsidian
Minimal and bold design direction for a luxury editorial magazine
Obsidian had a clear editorial vision but no visual language to carry it. Their magazine existed in a crowded space where every publication was competing for attention through noise. They needed a design direction bold enough to stand out yet restrained enough to feel timeless.
Lumière Soul developed a high contrast visual language rooted in confidence and precision. We built a structured grid system, selected a commanding typographic pairing and established a strict black, white and obsidian color palette — letting the content speak without distraction.
Obsidian launched their first issue to critical acclaim within their readership. The complete design system now spans print and digital platforms — a cohesive editorial identity that is immediately recognisable and deliberately impossible to ignore.
